Abstract:

It is clear that tomorrows Army will come to rely more and more heavily on computer generated visual displays in a myriad of situations. ARI has produced a substantial amount of research directed toward improving the human factors design of information displays. This research has produced design recommendations in such areas as highlighting, color coding, selective call up, design and use of symbols, alphanumeric vs. graphic portrayals, and the manipulation of pictorial information.
