This reprint is directed at developing a Greens function for a two- dimensional, isotropic half-space. The article addresses the buried impulsive single force as formulated by Hudson however other loadings and sources such as Garvins problem could also be handled by the method presented. Starting with the formal solution, a numerical root finding scheme is employed to compute terms which normally present problems for general field points below the free surface.
