Abstract:

This work deals with the process environment modeling of carbon-carbon composites. Capabilities of the process environment model PEM computer code developed by Science Application Incorporated, California, have been discussed. Users instructions for PEM code have been given. Illustrative examples for different phases of processing of carbon-carbon composites are presented. Close form analytical solutions for impregnation analysis have been derived. A comparison between close from solution results and PEM results has been given. The primary purpose of the PEM is to predict the pressure and temperature environment for the mechanical model.
