Abstract:

Loch Lyndon Reservoir Dam has a hydraulic height of 17 ft, is 15 ft. wide at the crest, and is 200 ft. long. It is an earthen embankment with a log retaining wall on the upstream face near and below the waterline, a sand and gravel roadway crosses its crest, and it has a nearly vertical stone wall on the downstream face that varies 3.7 ft to 5.5 ft. below the crest of the dam. The principal spillway is located to the east of the dam and is an excavated channel in natural ground. A natural swale located west of the dam acts an an emergency spillway. The dam is in poor condition with major concerns which need attention. It is intermediate in size with a significant hazard potential. The test flood is 12 the PMF. A major breach at top of dam would probably result in the loss of no lives but could cause appreciable property damage.
