Abstract:

Large matrix storage constitutes a limitation on the applicability of most numerical techniques including the Finite Element Method, when very accurate results are required. This is particularly true when dealing with Boundary Value Problems. In order to surpass this difficulty a new method to solve these problems has been devised which does not require matrix storage while still providing the possibility of accuracy improvement. Although restricted to one-dimensional, linear differential equations of the form Y to the n th power X fx this new approximating techniques gives acceptable results. The method will perform equally well for problems with exact or non-exact integrable forcing functions, continuous or discontinuous, or functions existing only as a set of values at discrete points.
