There are several new techniques for correcting time dispersive distortion of wideband andor spread spectrum signals using signal processing capabilities which can be embedded into modern communications systems. These include adaptive channel equalization and in the case of spread spectrum signals, synchronous correlation, matched filtering and Rake processing. This paper shows several distinct advantages in the combination of matched filtering and Rake processing for handling dispersion of spread spectrum signals.
