Abstract:
This report summarizes the failure modes chemical, mechanical, or thermal which reduce the operational life of avionic and electronic equipment. Lt Gen Thomas H. McMullens speech at Tuesdays luncheon summarized the history of avionics and presents the great importance of avionics to the future of Aircraft. The notes from the management session, ASD Integrity Thrusts, discuss the important aspects of avionics integrity in design, manufacturing, and use. The important role people play in the development and manufacturing of an electronic product is shown. Stress screening of electronic components is important to having quality equipment and is discussed from the governments perspectives of maintenance and supply as well as from the view of the institute of Environmental Sciences IES. Originator-supplied keywords include Integrity, Avionics, Electronics, Durability, Deterministic, Avionics Integrity Program AVIP, Environmental Stress Screening EES, Failure modes, Corrosion, Thermal management, and Combined Environmental Reliability Testing CERT.
