Abstract:
Presents the application of the software engineering principles of functional strength in modules, data coupling, and data abstraction in assembly language. Proposes standards for and illustrates the proper use of comments, equates, data structures, conditional assembly, and macro assembly to support program maintainability. Reports on an applied project that involved adding macro capability to an existing cross assembler. The assembler, which is coded in MACRO 32 to run on a VAXVMS, produces code for the Motorola 6800 series processors.
