The conference also addresses current OSD thrust of rapid expansion of production of critical end items in a national security emergency short of mobilization. Its purpose is to develop recommendations for potential actions by government and industry to provide a capability to rapidly increase production off critical end items in a national security emergency short of mobilization. Defense contractors simulated maximum production acceleration of selected items for national security emergency which would transition to mobilizaation later, government established a steering group and a response cell.
