Abstract:
The first soluble linear Schiff-base heavy metal coordination polymer has been synthesized via the condensation of 1,2,4,5-tetraaminobenzene and tetrakissalicylaldehydatozirconiumIV in dry dimethyl sulfoxide. The N,N,N,N-tetrasalicylidene-1,2,4,5-tetraaminobenzeneatozirconium IV polymer has a number average molecular weight of up to 49,000 based on inherent viscosity, geli permeation chromatography, and element analysis. Spectra properties of this polymer indicate a structure analogous to the model compound, bisN,N-disalicylidene-1,2-phenylenediaminozirconium IV. Thermal characterization of the polymer is also discussed. Originator key words incluse Bridging ligands, Coordination polymer, Eight-coordinate chelate polymer, Film-forming metal chelate polymer, Gel permeation chromatography, Schiff-base coordination polymer, Thermal stability, and Zirconium polymer.
