Abstract:

The utility of the modified Landolt C-ring test in predicting gunner performance when optical laser filters were incorporated in the gunners aimingtracking sights was examined. Sixty-four qualified TOW and tank gunners participated in a quasi-tactical exercise during which they had to locate, identify, and simulate firing at targets using their respective sights. Sixty-three of the gunners were used to measure variations in their visual acuity caused by the filters which were being used in the tactical scenarios.
