Abstract:

A new method of acoustic emission transducer calibration is developed using numerical solutions of Greens functions in a half space. This method allows transducer calibration without employing elaborate equipment. The calibration curves obtained for six transducers by the present method agree with results obtained by the Nippon Steel Corporation and the National Bureau of Standards.
