The recommended plan of improvement for Scotts Creek provides a channel which will pass a 50-year flood within bank. The plan consists of clearing and snagging the existing channel from SC Highway 34 to SC Highway 34 By-Pass, a total distance of 1,630 feet. Channel enlargement would begin at this point and continue to a point 980 feet upstream from the centerline of Glenn Street, a total distance of 12,150 feet. Improved bottom widths vary from 28 to 20 feet and bottom slopes range from .30 to .49 percent. The plan calls for the replacement of two bridges, Calhoun and Lindsay Streets and the construction of transition walls at other crossings. Extensive pipeline relocations will be required in order to remove all pipe crossings which present an obstruction to channel flow. The draft environmental impact statement has been circulated for public review and the final environmental impact statement is currently being prepared.
