After nearly a decade of investigation, considerable information has been obtained concerning the extent of Lake Eries water quality problems, the causes of these problems, and a cost-effective strategy to improve Lake Eries water quality. Numerous questions remain unanswered about the exact relationship between land use and water quality and about the effectiveness of the proposed management strategy. However, enough information has been assembled in order to project that Lake Erie can be rehabilitated with the recommended program at a relatively low cost.
