Abstract:

The development of a simple synthesis of B4H10 has made available a potentially convenient route to metallapentaboranes by reaction of the B4H9- ion with suitable transition-metal complexes. This report describes the synthesis and characterization of four metallapentaboranes derived from B4H9-.
