Abstract:
Alloyed tungsten bars made from powdered metals that are compressed, sintered, and swagged can be ultrasonically inspected. Both longitudinal and shear waves were used, the latter being more sensitive. A frequency of 2.25 MHz proved best. One crack was found. The crack was equated to a standard.
