The Paper Goods Pond Dam is a concrete and masonry structure. It is approximately 70 feet long, 30 feet high and has an average top width of 4 feet. The Paper Goods Pond Dam was probably constructed in 1920 with subsequent improvements in 1939. The present owner and operator of the dam is Sherwood Industries, Inc., which uses the pond for industrial water supply. Based on visual inspection and past operational performance, the dam is judged to be in FAIR condition. Seepage was noted through the southwest abutment and along the southern downstream channel wall. The 10 inch supply main presently has no control at the dam. The test flood for this dam is 12 the Probable Maximum Flood PMF. The test flood has an inflow equal to 6415 cfs and an outflow discharge equal to 6400 cfs with a stillwater elevation of 125.0 which will overtop the dam by 5.5 feet. The maximum outflow capacity of the spillway with the water surface at the top of the dam is 1190 cfs, which is 19 percent of the test flood outflow.
