The candidate insect repellent 1-3-cyclohexen-1-yl-carbonyl piperidine, AI3-35765, was assessed for skin absorption potential in rats and dogs by monitoring radiocarbon in excreta for 7 days following a single application. In both species, absorption occurred primarily in the first 24 hours and measured 32 percent of the applied dose in rats and 21 percent in dogs through 7 days. No marked bioaccumulation in animal tissue specimens was noted at necropsy by this route. Absorption in man should be less than 12 percent of a topical dose.
