Laser excited NO2 fluorescence was measured as function of time, pressure, fluorescence wavelength, and temperature. Rate constants were measured for the decay of banded and continuous emission features due to quenching by 13 added gases. A general mechanism for the radiative and collisional processes was established. The rate constants of reactions at 298 K were measured by vacuum u.v. resonance fluorescence.
