This is a report on progress that has been made in a study of active and passive remote sensing of ice. During this period the investigators 1 derived the backscattering coefficients for a two-layer anisotropic random medium 2 calculated the emissivities from a two-layer anisotropic random medium and 3 participated in the microwave sea ice measurement program at the Cold Regions Research and Engineering Laboratory.
