This report presents a description and evaluation of a pilot Leadership Development Clinic LDC established at USMA by direction of the Commandant. The purpose of the pilot, known in some quarters as an Assessment Center, was to ascertain its potential usefulness as a method of leadership development for cadets. It was implemented during MarchApril 1983 when eighteen Second Class cadets Class of 1984 participated in five simulations and were evaluated by trained assessors on 12 jobs skills important for successful performance as a second lieutenant. Evaluation of the usefulness of the LDC by cadets, assessors, and NCOs indicates that it provided a valuable leadership development experience for cadets and should be expanded so that more cadets can participate.
