Pagination or Media Count:
An examination of the anatomical and biochemical systems involved with swimming in the bottlenose dolphin. This study produced quantitative descriptions of muscle fiber architecture, fiber type composition, and biochemical properties of tendons associated with dolphin locomotion. These data add a new dimension to the current understanding of the axial musculature of dolphins and further define its function in locomotion.
