The Lorentz Transformation and the Radar Doppler Equation.

The propagation of the electromagnetic waves in vacuum is discussed in terms of the Lorentz Transformation. A simple, but rigorous, derivation of the Lorentz Transformation is given. Then, the observed doppler shift, seen by a moving observer, of a moving target is derived in terms of inertial position and velocity. This radar doppler equation, given without approximation, is suitable for analysis of doppler data for satellite orbit determination. Author
