The numbers of active duty health care manpower resources are not sufficient to meet the total needs of the mobilization this nation would have to locate, assign and put in place additional medical resources to meet expanded requirements. Given the current inadequacy of active duty resources to meet mobilization needs and the inability to identify health care resources in the civilian community by Selective Service a system should be developed to provide for registration, maintenance, and activation of specific skills in the health care professions for mobilization. This paper examines the issues surrounding this problem.
