The thermal decomposition of acetylene C2H2 on palladium 100 and 111 surfaces in the temperature range 300-500K has been monitored with high-resolution electron energy loss spectroscopy EELS. Vibrational analysis indicates predominant formation of rather stable CCH species on both surfaces.
