Indonesia remains the worlds major rice importer as per capita consumption continues to increase. The next few years promise to favor sustained economic development. A World Bank mission reported in February 1980 that Indonesias foreign exchange from oil and LNG will amount to 17 billion in 1985. The Indonesian Government is using its growing resources with prudence and restraint, and a regional balance in Southeast Asia can be achieved--if Indonesia can achieve and maintain parity with Vietnam. The historical method is used in this analysis.
