The authors present a procedure to detect deadlock in a distributed system. The procedure is dynamic and distributed. Deadlock will be correctly detected for general resource requests of the form Lock file A and file B at NY or lock file A and file B at LA. The contribution of this paper is that it presents a distributed solution to the deadlock detection problem when requests have ANDOR form.
