The purpose of this work is to present a general field theory describing the structure and interaction of vortices, both atmospheric and extraterrestrial. This field theory is characterized by four main elements 1 New laws of physics, 2 New mathematical expression of these laws, 3 A conceptual framework for application of these laws of vortex structure, 4 Data for partial verification of these laws. Such a general field theory is also termed a paradigm , Kuhn 1970. According to Kuhn a paradigm is a scientific achievement that some particular scientific community acknowledges for a time as supplying the foundation for its further practice. Kuhn 1970 cites paradigms as examples of scientific practice which include law, theory, application and instrumentation. The paradigm here introduced incorporates such laws, theory and application, and is inspired by recently developed scientific instrumentation, the spin-scan camera of the geosynchronous meteorological satellite. This paradigm further proposes an expansion of mathematical systems and a theory for the structure of a wide range of vortex phenomena for the utilization and application of these laws.
