In thermal spraying, protective coatings are formed through high velocity melt-spray deposition of a wide range of materials plastics, metals, ceramics onto substrates to be protected. The high temperatures for melting are achieved through combustion, with an electric-arc, or within a plasma. The conference examined the scientific bases of the processes as well as a number of active applications, including corrosionoxidation and wear and erosion resistant coatings, gas turbine engines, and a number of high temperature applications.
