Abstract:

The Poker Parallel Programming Environment is a graphics-based interactive system for writing and running CHip programs. The programs can be emulated or run on the Pringle when completed. Poker runs on the VAX 11780 under UNIX using two displays. Poker permits the programmer to encode a parallel algorithm in a convenient, high level interactive environment, but because the authors approach is somewhat nonstandard, he begins with a discussion of our view of the parallel programming activity.
