The 1982 Callaway Workshop represented an attempt to improve multidisciplinary communication across a cross-section of researchers, developers and users of Land Combat Models from a wide spectrum of experiences and academic backgrounds who shared a common interest in furthering the progress of Military Science and Engineering. The general objective of the workshop was to produce a state of the art survey of ongoing research and development in the modeling and simulation of land combat which will improve both oral and written communications between researchers, users and educators. Specific objectives of the workshop were to 1. Provide a multidisciplinary forum for the presentation of invited papers from researchers, developers and users. 2. Provide the contents for a published proceedings for use as a research and educational source document. 3. Identify major gaps and stimulate new research in the development of a theory of land combat for use in modeling and simulation activities. 4. Conduct a cursive, unclassified discussion on the state of Russian and European military science and engineering as they relate to Modeling and Simulation of Land Combat.
