Abstract:

This paper compares three models which have been developed to analyze the economic impact of defense expenditures the Defense Economic Impact Modeling System DEIMS, the Revised Growth for Industrial Potential REGRIP model, and the Industrial Mobilization Potential Model IMPMOD. All three models use the same basic projection methodology, input-output analysis. However, they differ in many important respects, including the details of their methodology, level of detail, data sources and types of reports generated. The paper 1 discusses each model in detail, 2 provides summary comparisons of their characteristics, and 3 makes recommendations on the appropriate model for DoD to use for different types of economic analyses of mobilization.
