Abstract:

A short trial has been conducted in shallow water using a towed array and a number of signal-processing techniques. Results are presented on the outputs from conventional beamforming and maximum-likelihood beamforming and on some basic techniques for suppressing towship noise. The signal processing package is implemented in software and provides the various forms of processing by using the array covariance matrix and eigenvaluevector analysis. Possible future work on these topics is proposed.
