The reflectance characteristics in the 400 to 1100 nm region of two different soil types and the effect of varying vegetative cover on each are described. The spectral reflectance of the test sites was proportional to the cover and highly dependent on soil color. A cover of 24-35 percent was required to affect significantly the spectral reflection 400 to 1100 nm of the background soil types. Equations for these relations are given.
