Abstract:

For unsteady, irrotational flow governed by Laplaces equation, velocity potential and stream function solutions are presented with particular consideration being given to the boundary conditions. The analyses are applicable to multiple bodies each moving in an arbitrary direction with varying velocity. In the final section of the report, the problem of calculating the entrained mass for a body of arbitrary shape is considered.
