Abstract:

Nearly 94 of the food consumed in FEMA Region V is warehoused within the region. The table below summarizes the source and magnitude of all shipments from warehouses to supermarkets within the region. Five of the six states in FEMA Region V Wisconsin, Illinois, Minnesota, Michigan and Ohio are largely self-sufficient, warehousing between 78 to 91 of their food supplies within their own borders. The sixth state, Indiana, which warehouses roughly 60 of its own food stocks, is dependent on other Region V states Illinois, Ohio and Michigan for 38 of its food supplies. Author
