Abstract:

The program centers on a study of the mechanical properties of particulate metal-base composites. New processing techniques, principally through powder metallurgy processing, have been developed for attainment of ultrafine structures in particulate composites. Some of the discoveries made on the program are materials with high threshold stresses for creep high specific modulus materials with isotropic properties superplastic white cast irons, and enhanced densification of powders through phase transformation cycling.
