Abstract:

A total of 1391 STD CTD stations were taken from four manned drifting ice camps in the Arctic Ocean during the Arctic Ice Dynamics Joint Experiment AIDJEX from April 1975 to April 1976. Profiles were taken at least once a day from the surface to 750 meters at all camps and weekly casts to 3000 meters were taken at the main camp. Between casts all stations ran time series by holding the sensor at a fixed depth within the pycnocline however, these data are not discussed. Plessey Model 9040 STD units were used at all camps and data were simultaneously recorded digitally on magnetic tape and graphically on analog charts. This report pertains to the STD CTD data taken at the manned Camp Caribou. The STD data associated with the other three manned camps are in separate volumes Bauer et al, 1980. Profiling current meter PCM data to a maximum depth of 200 meters were taken concurrently at the four camps and are separately reported by Manley et al, 1980.
