Abstract:
This report summarizes the theoretical and experimental investigations that were conducted to evaluate the potential of aeroelastic and mass-elastic couplings in an aerolastic conformable rotor ACR that will improve the performance and vibratory characteristics of helicopter rotor systems without creating instabilities. ACR parameters were identified and a baseline rotor system was selected. An ACR blade concept was investigated by altering the characteristics of the baseline and using automated analysis techniques.
