This is a final report of research conducted between September, 1978, and December, 1980. The organization of social information was explored through a series of laboratory studies. The first series of studies examined the effects of familiarity on the processing of information about a group of other persons. The remaining studies explored specific components of familiarity, including perceptual discriminability, social discriminability, and frequency of association. Author
