Abstract:

A test program to determine the perforation limits at normal incidence for a series of test panels is described. Steel-right-circular cylinders of four weights and with a length to diameter ratio LD equal to one were fired against the test panels. Panels were of two general types. One type consisted of single KEVLAR 49 panels of varying resin type content and thickness. The other consisted of sandwich panels of KEVLAR 49 face sheets with various core materials. A total of fourteen different panels was tested. All of the data obtained are presented with tabulated summaries along with some general conclusions.
