Abstract:
A scattering matrix theory is presented for studying the multiple scattering of both longitudinal and transverse elastic waves in a medium containing a random distribution of inclusions or voids of arbitrary shape. A statistical analysis with QCA and Percus-Yevick pair correlation function is then employed to obtain expressions for the average amplitudes of the coherent fields which may be solved to yield the bulk or effective properties of the inhomogeneous medium. Suggestions for incorporating CPA in conjunction with QCA so that materials with dense concentration of inclusions can be considered are also given. Author
