Abstract:

Weight gain due to moisture was measured for simulated M55 detonators with precision drilled holes. The increase varied linearly with the hole diameter. Live detonators with 2- and 5-mil holes, immersed in water for 48 hours, demonstrated decreased sensitivity in functioning tests. The logarithm of leak rates did not vary linearly with wait time in accordance with the leak rate equation, but was found to vary linearly with the logarithm of time.
