The research effort of the past year was divided into three phases, each of which adds to our systematic investigation of the frequency response characteristics of cardiovascular regulation. The frequency response characteristics are obtained from the analysis of pressure, flow and heart volume responses to low frequency, sinusoidal acceleration 0.001 to 0.25 Hz or - 2gz. The 3 phases are 1 Heart volume measurements in unblocked and autonomically blocked, normal and cardiac denervated dogs undergoing low frequency 2g sinusoidal acceleration 2 Comparison of autonomic effector blockade with ganglionic blockade and 3 The effect of cardiac denervation on cardiovascular function before and after autonomic effector blockade.
