Abstract:

The Hydrologic Engineering Center, Corps of Engineers, is preparing a document entitled Manual for the Determination of the Feasibility of Adding Small Hydroelectric Power to an Existing Facility. The manual is designed for use by public agencies federal, state and local, public and private utilities, and private investors. It focuses upon the concepts, technology, and economic and financial issues unique to small hydropower additions. This paper discusses issues related to engineering and economic considerations in planning small hydropower additions, presents an overview of significant findings of the investigation to data, and provides a status report on manual preparation.
