Abstract:
Seven multigrade engine oils were tested against 10 grade and 30 grade reference oil in the DD 6V-53T engine using a 240-hour tracked-vehicle cyclic endurance test and in the Teledyne Continental LDLDT-465 engines using a 210-hour wheeled-vehicle cyclic endurance test. The results of these tests are tabulated and compared with results from reference oil tests. Two SAE 15W-40 oils proved equal or better than the reference oil and were recommended for adoption as MIL-L-2104 oils.
