Abstract:

The results of an organizational study of performance appraisal are reported. The study documented performance appraisal objectives, beliefs and assumptions described and evaluated the companys performance appraisal system and made recommendations regarding performance appraisal practice. On site interviews, questionnaires, and personnel records served as data sources. Over 2000 superiorsubordinate pairs responded to questionnaires. Analysis of the data revealed importances between supervisors and subordinates about objectives of personnel performance appraisal. In addition, the two groups had different beliefs and assumptions about performance appraisal.
