Abstract:
Techniques being developed to provide decision criteria on a real-time basis for operating the five flood control reservoirs in the Merrimack River basin in central New England are described. The techniques include a application of alternative streamflow forecasting models, b application of computer program HEC-5C, Simulation of Flood Control and Conservation Systems, to develop decision-criteria for system operation on a real-time basis, and use of computer terminals to enable analysis of alternative forecast andor decision criteria in both batch mode and interactive applications.
