Abstract:
The reduction of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons at platinum electrodes in aprotic solvents does not normally occur before surface hydrogen is reduced. The reduced hydrogen reacts with the hydrocarbon before the anion radical can be formed. The intermediate species formed after electron transfer are easily observed at very low concentrations by using modulated specular reflectance spectroscopy MSRS. Author
