Recent investigations have shown that unoriented phase I polyvinylidene fluoride PVF2 films can be produced by pressure quenching. The poling field dependence of the pyroelectric coefficient, P sub y, the piezoelectric coefficients d sub p, d sub 31 and e sub 31 and the dielectric response is investigated for poling fields up to E sub p 2.75 million Vcm. These quantities exhibit a plateau region where the initial rapid increase with increasing E sub p decreases. This behavior is similar to that observed for oriented phase II PVF2 films. The effect of draw ratio on d sub p and P sub y for draw ratios up to 61 is also examined. D sub p increases from 6.5 pCN to 19 pCN as the draw ratio goes from 11 to 61 at constant E sub p. P sub y increases from 1 x 10 to the minus ninth power Csq cm K to 5 x 10 to the minus ninth power Csq cm K. Author
